Education, not medical advice
The content on this site is general patient education. It is not a diagnosis, not a treatment recommendation, and not a substitute for a consultation with a clinician who has examined you. Do not use it to decide that a symptom can wait, and do not use it to decide that a symptom needs emergency care on the strength of a website alone — when in doubt, make the call.
Vascular occlusion is an emergency
Filler can obstruct a blood vessel, starving the tissue it supplies of blood. This is a time-critical emergency that can cause skin loss and, rarely, vision loss, and the outcome depends on how quickly it is recognised and treated. Severe pain out of proportion to the injection, or skin turning white, grey, mottled or dusky, requires immediate assessment. Any change in vision requires emergency care immediately.
Temporary results and no guarantee
Every filler result is temporary and maintenance treatment is required. Over-treatment is harder to correct than under-treatment. No treatment described here can be guaranteed to reverse a complication or to restore tissue that has been injured, and no outcome is promised.
When to seek care urgently
Severe pain out of proportion, a change in the colour of the skin over a treated area, a change in vision, fever with spreading redness, or skin blistering or breaking down all require prompt care. Contact your treating team first; if the team cannot be reached, call the hospital main line, and for a red-flag symptom attend the nearest emergency department immediately. Do not wait for a review appointment.
